Gambling

Inside the app

Urges pass, the days stay

Bets are a tap away on your phone. Quitzilla keeps your reasons, your diary and a count of every day you didn't bet in one place.

Reasons to Quit

  1. I choose to build my wealth, not gamble it away!
  2. Monday morning, and the money from Friday is still there
  3. Saturday night, and my phone stays face down on the table
  4. My family knows exactly where the money went this month

Example reasons. Yours will sound like you.

Reasons to read before you place a bet

Adding Gambling brings up suggested reasons to stop. Edit them, write your own, and open the list on payday, before a big match or whenever a bet starts to look tempting.

New diary entry with the relapse switch on and a money spent field with $20, $50 and $100 options

Diary noteFriday night, alone with my phone, and I slipped. Next time, I'll call my brother.

Turn a slip into a lesson

Had a slip? Add a diary entry with the relapse switch on and, if you like, what it cost. Your count starts over, every earlier bet-free stretch stays on record, and your notes can show what tends to come before a bet.

Gambling charts: abstinence periods with the current 19-day stretch as the tallest bar, and money spent on relapse days

Every streak counts

One chart lines up every bet-free stretch, the one you're on and all the ones before it. Another shows the money you logged on relapse days. Charts are part of Premium.

Frequently asked questions

Ask us anything
Will counting bet-free days actually help?

An app can't make the decision for you, but it can keep it in view. When you add Gambling to Quitzilla, you set when you last gambled, roughly what it cost you and which reasons matter most. From then on, your bet-free time runs to the second, the money you didn't stake adds up beside it, and the app lets you know when you reach a goal. If gambling has led to debts or feels out of control, a gambling support service or counselor in your country can help, and Quitzilla doesn't replace them.

How does Quitzilla count the money I don't gamble?

During setup you enter what gambling usually cost you per day, week or month. Bets rarely cost the same every day, so a rough average is fine, and you can change it later in the habit's settings. The app turns that amount into a total that grows with your bet-free time. Set up a reward with a price, such as a new dining table, and it fills up from that total until it's ready. The balance is a number the app calculates, not money held in an account.

What if I gamble again after I've stopped?

Add a diary entry and mark it as a relapse. You can also note how much you spent. The timer starts again from that moment, while your earlier bet-free stretches stay in your statistics, including your longest one. A few words about what came before, like payday, a big match or a quiet night alone with your phone, can help you see your own patterns.

Can Quitzilla block betting sites and apps?

No, Quitzilla doesn't block anything on your phone. It's a tracker: it counts your bet-free time and money and keeps your reasons and diary in one place. You can use it alongside a blocking tool or self-exclusion. If you gamble in more than one way, you can track each as a separate habit, for example sports betting and scratch cards, with its own timer and savings.

Is Quitzilla free?

Yes, you can use Quitzilla for free on iPhone and Android. That covers up to two habits with the bet-free timer, savings and rewards, the built-in goals, your reasons and the diary. Premium is for unlimited habits, home screen widgets, charts, custom goals and a color of your choice for each habit.
