Inside the app

For meetings, screens and long waits

Open your reasons when the urge comes, note in the diary where it turned up, and see every bite-free stretch in your records.

Reasons to Quit

  1. I choose to leave my nails alone!
  2. I want to get through a movie with my hands in my lap
  3. I want to shake hands without a second thought
  4. I'll feel proud every time I notice the change

One example list. Yours can be as short or as personal as you like.

A list to read instead of biting

Four reasons are already there when you add Nail Biting. Edit them, add your own lines, and read the list when your hands start to wander.

New Nail Biting diary entry dated October 1, 2026 at 22:26, with an empty Thoughts & Notes field and the Relapse switch turned off

Diary noteCaught my thumb at my mouth during a long video call, so I picked up a pen instead. Streak still going.

Notice the moments, not just the slips

A diary entry doesn't have to be a relapse. Leave the relapse switch off to note a trigger or an urge you got past, and the timer keeps running. If you did bite, switch it on: the timer restarts from the time you set, and everything before it stays in your records.

Nail Biting statistics: starting point Monday, July 20, 2026, 8 total relapses, previous and longest abstinence period both 8 days 18 hours, average 5 days 19 hours, shortest 2 days 19 hours, and a View Charts button

Records of every bite-free stretch

The Statistics tab keeps your records for free: when you started, how many relapses you've logged, and your previous, average, shortest and longest finished bite-free periods. View Charts shows each period as a bar, with the current one last. Charts are part of Premium.

I want to stop biting my nails. How can Quitzilla help?

Add Nail Biting, choose your reasons for stopping and tell the app when you last bit your nails. From that moment, Quitzilla counts every second, and as soon as you reach a goal, the next one is lined up, all the way to ten years, with a celebration at the milestones. The diary is for noting what was going on when the urge came. The app keeps count; it isn't a treatment. If the habit is hard to stop on your own, a doctor or therapist can help.

Why does Quitzilla ask about money and time if nail biting costs me nothing?

Quitzilla asks every habit the same setup questions, because for habits like smoking or gambling, money and time are what the savings are counted from. For nail biting, enter 0 for both. That's fully supported: you won't be asked to set up a reward or an investment, and the counter, goals, reasons, diary and records work just as they do for any other habit. Your savings simply stay at zero. If you ever want to fill them in, the habit's settings let you add a daily cost or time at any point.

Does one bitten nail count as a relapse?

That's up to you. Quitzilla only knows what you tell it, so you decide whether a quick nibble counts or only a proper bite. Logging a relapse restarts the timer and the current goal from that time. Your earlier bite-free periods, records and diary entries aren't touched, and your longest stretch remains in Statistics, next to your previous and average ones.

Can I note what makes me bite without resetting my streak?

Yes. Any entry you save without marking it as a relapse is an ordinary note, and your timer isn't touched. Use it for the moments you notice: a tense meeting, a long wait in line, a show you got absorbed in, a deadline. Notes are saved under their day, and days with notes get a dot on the calendar, so looking back over a few weeks can show you where the urge tends to turn up.

Is Quitzilla free?

Yes. You can track up to two habits for free on iPhone and Android. For nail biting, that means the bite-free counter, all built-in goals, your reasons, the diary and your records in Statistics. Premium adds unlimited habits, charts, home screen widgets, your own goals and a custom color for each habit.
