Snus

Along the way

When the tin is always in your pocket

A pouch fits into a workday, a flight or a night out without anyone noticing. Your reasons, your diary and every snus-free stretch can be just as close, on your phone.

Reasons to Quit

  1. I choose to be done with the tin!
  2. I'd like a long drive to be just a drive again
  3. I'll save money and break the nicotine cycle
  4. I won't be dependent on a pouch to get through the day

A sample list. Everyone writes their own.

Read this before the next pouch

The Snus template comes with its own reasons to quit, ready for you to edit. Keep the lines that sound like you, add your own, and read the list after a meal, at your desk or any time a pouch sounds good.

New diary entry for October 1, 2026 at 22:22 with an empty Thoughts & Notes field, the Relapse switch on and $5, $10 and $20 options for money spent

Diary noteGame night at a friend's, the tin went around and I took one. Telling the group I've quit before the next one.

What led to that pouch?

Write down what happened in the diary and turn on the relapse switch. The timer restarts from the time you choose, while your earlier snus-free stretches stay in your records. Not every entry has to be a relapse: a craving you got through can go in the diary too, and the timer keeps running.

Snus charts: nine abstinence periods with the current 23-day period as the tallest bar and $115.46 saved, an average line at 6 days 20 hours, and a Spending chart of money logged at each relapse

How this attempt compares

On the Abstinence Periods chart, every snus-free stretch is a bar, and the one you're on comes last. Tap any bar for its dates, its length and the money it saved. Below it, Spending shows what you logged at each relapse. Charts are part of Premium.

What does Quitzilla do when I quit snus?

Quitzilla is a tracker: it keeps the count while you do the quitting. Add Snus, keep the suggested reasons that fit you, enter roughly what snus cost you and the time of your last pouch, then choose a first goal. After that you can watch the time since your last pouch tick up by the second, the money for the tins you didn't buy build up beside it, and a new goal take over each time you reach one, from one day up to ten years. It doesn't replace advice from a doctor or a quitline.

Does Quitzilla work for nicotine pouches?

Yes. Quitzilla has a Snus template, and one of its suggested reasons already mentions a pouch, so it fits snus and nicotine pouches alike. If you'd rather see your own word on the screen, add a habit of your own and call it "Nicotine pouches" or anything you like. Either way, the app tracks the time since your last pouch and the money you keep. It has no nicotine-specific tools: it doesn't track nicotine amounts or set up a plan to cut down gradually.

I bought snus by the tin, not by the day. How do I enter the cost?

Enter the cost the way you used to buy it. If a tin lasted you a couple of days, a weekly amount is easiest; per day or per month works too. Quitzilla multiplies it by your snus-free time, so the total keeps rising, and you can put it toward a reward you price yourself, which fills up as the total grows. Setup also asks about time. If snus didn't take time out of your day, leave that at zero: the days and the money are still counted.

What happens if I take a pouch again?

Record it as a relapse: on iPhone that's Log Relapse, on Android Reset Timer. The timer and your progress toward the current goal start again from the time you enter, and you can note what you spent. Your earlier snus-free periods, the longest one included, stay in your statistics. A line about the moment, like a pouch with the morning coffee or one offered at a party, can show you what tends to come before it.

Is Quitzilla free?

Yes, on both iPhone and Android. Without paying, you get up to two habits with the timer, savings and rewards, built-in goals, your reasons and the diary. Premium, if you want it, adds unlimited habits, charts, home screen widgets, goals you set yourself and a color of your choice for each habit. On Android, it also removes ads.
